Len Ivins is Co-Founder, Chairman of the Board and CEO. Mr. Ivins has extensive experience in the executive management of public companies including holding several positions as a senior executive of CEO several fortune 500 companies. He has been involved in all aspects of managerial and financial responsibility for public companies and is an expert in corporate governance issues.
Dr. Donald Picker – Vice Chairman, President and COO. Dr. Picker has extensive experience in drug development with executive positions in a number of biotech companies. As the Worldwide Vice President of the Johnson Matthey Biotech Division, his group discovered and developed carboplatin (“paraplatin”) through Phase II clinical trials before licensing to Bristol Myers. He played a key role in the filing of the NDA and representing Bristol Myers on CMC issues at the FDA. The same group also discovered and initiated clinical development of satraplatin and picoplatin which are still in Phase III clinical trials. Dr. Picker was then recruited to Genta as Vice President of R&D where he formed the cancer program and led the discovery of “genasense” and the filing of the first antisense IND at the FDA. “Genasense” is still in the Phase III clinical trials.
As CEO of Synergy Pharmacy, he developed a Hepatitis C drug into clinical development and built a cancer company with an oncology clinical candidate. Synergy was merged into Callisto Pharmacy where as Executive Vice President he built a Cancer pipeline of two drugs in clinical development and two preclinical programs.
His most recent position as President of Tapestry involved progressing the development of a 3rd generation Taxane in a variety of solid tumors.
Steven M. Plumb – CFO - has been our CFO and Principal Accounting Officer since March 2008. He is a CPA licensed to practice in Texas. Mr. Plumb is a financial manager and senior executive experienced in operations, finance and marketing. He has Big 4 CPA experience, a background in IT, biotech, oil and gas, Fortune 500 firms, medical and utility companies, distribution, real estate, construction, governmental entities, and non-profit organizations. During 1981-1982, Mr. Plumb was a staff accountant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. During 1982-1984, Mr. Plumb was a staff accountant at Kalman Phillips & Leon, P.C. During 1984-1987, Mr. Plumb was a supervising senior accountant at KPMG. During 1987-1990, Mr. Plumb was the controller of Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Hospital. During 1990-1992, Mr. Plumb was the CFO of DePelchin Children's Center. From 1992-present, Mr. Plumb was the President of Steven M. Plumb, P.C. During 1997-2001, Mr. Plumb was the President of Orchard Consulting Group, Inc. During 2002-2004, Mr. Plumb was the CFO of ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. During 2003-present, Mr. Plumb was the President of Clear Financial Solutions, Inc. Mr. Plumb is a member of: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants; Houston Chapter of Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants; Houston Technology Center; and Association for Corporate Growth. Mr. Plumb is active in BioHouston and the Rice Alliance. Mr. Plumb has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas, 1981.
Dr. Tim Madden – Scientific Consultant - has been involved with the development of new anticancer agents since 1986 as the Journey Fellow of Biomedical Research in the Department of Pharmacokinetics/ Pharmacodynamics at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital under the direction of Dr. William E. Evans. He came to the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 1990 and is an Associate Professor of Cancer Medicine and Pharmacology in the Department of Experimental Therapeutics. In addition to his personal research he is currently Director of both the Pharmaceutical Development Center and the UTMDACC CCSG Pharmacology and Analytical Core Facility. He is medical board certified in Clinical Pharmacology by the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology and Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship program at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
He is a recognized leader in the field of anticancer drug pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, new agent development and has extensive experience in bioanalytical methods development, the application of mass spectrometry to drug development and clinical pharmacology, the development of animal models for the preclinical pharmacological and toxicological assessment of new anticancer agents and drug metabolism.
Scientific Advisory Board
Dr. Sandra Silberman – Scientific Advisor – Dr. Silberman is a world renowned oncologist who has been involved in both cancer research and the development of important new cancer therapeutics. At Pfizer she pioneered the early clinical development of Tarceva and went on to be clinical director of the Gleevec program at Novartis. She continues to be involved in the development of novel cancer therapies being developed by Industry.
